  • Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation Launches [June 6, 2010]
Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) shares the vision of our founder and creator, Alexandra “Alex” Scott—a cure for all children with cancer.  Since Alex set up her first lemonade stand in 2000—truly exemplifying the saying “When life hands you lemons, make lemonade”—we have raised more than $30 million, with more than $12 million of those dollars coming from lemonade stands.

Working with Sean Oakes Studios, Clever Name Here Inc. recently completed a relaunch of the ALSF site.  The launch includes a complete visual redesign, a bottom-to-top rebuild using Drupal as the content management system, and a highly customized deployment of CiviCRM as a contact management and grassroots fundraising package.

The new site can be seen at www.alexslemonade.org.

  • PAX Hotline Site Launches [September 2, 2008]
PAX is a nonprofit organization working with all Americans to help bring an end to gun violence against children and families.

For too long, gun violence in America has been perceived as a political debate rather than what it really is - an urgent public health crisis that is claiming the lives of 8 children and teens every day.

PAX has created two groundbreaking national campaigns, ASK and SPEAK UP, that make the gun violence issue a matter of public health and safety - not politics - and create the foundation for changes in social attitudes, behaviors and public policy that have previously been considered impossible. The fact is, the most successful social awareness movements of our time (such as AIDS, tobacco and drunk driving) all gained critical momentum when they became strongly focused on the public health and safety of the community as a whole, and particularly, our innocent and vulnerable children. PAX is bringing this same insight to the gun violence issue.

Two months ago, PAX contracted with Clever Name Here Inc. to develop a set of databases for use by their hotline operators as part of the SPEAK UP campaign.  Today we are proud to announce the launch of this tool.

  • Watch Out for BoostUp [May 24, 2008]
In the course of my work for The New York City Alliance Against Sexual Assault, I was recently asked to post an announcement on behalf of BoostUp.org.  This purports to be an organization offering support to students at risk of dropping out of high school.  In fact, it is a project of the U.S. Army, and I can only assume that it is a sophisticated recruitment vehicle.  So here we have a situation where the government is asking an anti-violence organization to help expose youth to military recruitment propoganda -- under the pretext of offering at-risk youth a "boost up".  (Needless to say, we didn't post the announcement.)

  • CNH Announces $11,000 Donation to WomensLaw.org [March 20, 2008]
WomensLaw.org was founded in February 2000 by a group of lawyers, teachers, activists, and web designers interested in seeing the power of the Internet work for more disadvantaged people and specifically for survivors of domestic violence.  The mission of WomensLaw.org is to provide easy-to-understand legal information and resources to women living with or escaping domestic violence. By reaching out through the Internet, WomensLaw.org empowers women and girls to lead independent lives, free from abuse.  The site publishes state-specific legal information for domestic violence. It also publishes information on getting help in your community.

Tens of thousands of visitors come to the WomensLaw.org website every month to find answers to their legal questions and learn more about their options. On average, over 80,000 unique users (different individuals) visit the website each month, viewing over 3 million pages a year.

WomensLaw.org also provides help through email, directly to women and advocates, throughout the U.S.  Volunteers and staff members answer over 1,000 inquiries each month, offering help directly to women escaping from abusive relationships.

Over the past years, we've had the opportunity to work closely with the staff and board of WomensLaw.org.  We have been impressed time and again with their dedication, passion, and effectiveness.  A small organization with a big reach, WomensLaw.org is making a difference every day in the lives of countless women.  Clever Name Here Inc. is proud to be able to support this work through a donation of $11,000.
